Comparing to other economic downturns, the Great Recession of 2009 was longer and deeper. Unlike the Great Depression, this one was synchronized with a worldwide integration of markets, explaining the longer duration and the slower recovery.

Generally speaking, this recession was far more devastating than other relatively recent economic downturns in that it lasted longer than expected and many more homes and jobs were lost than expected. Thus the term "Great Recession".

How did the 1918 influenza outbreak help explain anti-immigrant settlement during this era?
yKpoI14uk [10]
During the plague, many believed that if they let immigrants into their nation, a major outbreak could occur. However, nearly all places in the world were affected by the disease anyways. (Except for American Samoa, who refused to let anyone on the island)

Why is gerrymandering a problem for the House of Representatives but not the Senate?
Arlecino [84]

Gerrymandering is the act of drawing districts in such a way that you capture voters of the same party, which ensures a representative of that party for that district. But, Gerrymandering is not a problem by the senate because they are being elected to serve specific districts rather than the entire states. Gerrymandering is an act used by the politicians in manipulating the district lines aiming to help their friends in other districts or have an advantage over their enemies.

Hope this Helps ;)
