Explain the key features of the graph of the cosine function

The trigonometric functions have features that are worthy of note. Among these features are the period and the amplitude. The graph of f(x)=cos x repeats itself along the x-axis by a certain distance. This distance is called the period. For the cosine function, the period is 2pi radians. It can also be observed that the graph goes up and down by a certain distance. This distance is called the amplitude. For the curve of f(x)=cos x, the amplitude is 1. The main difference between a cosine function and a sine function is that the former is symmetric with respect to the y-axis while the latter is symmetric with respect to the origin.

The cosine function . . .

-- Starts at '1' when the angle is zero, and
proceeds downward from there.

-- From there, it is a smooth curve that wiggles
up and down as the angle increases.

-- The function wiggles up and down between
the limits of +1 and -1.

-- It crosses the x-axis every time the angle increases
by 180° (π radians).

What is the opposite of the number 14
lidiya [134]

Answer:

The opposite of 14 is -14.

Step-by-step explanation:

Opposites are numbers with the same distance from 0 but one is to the right of 0 and the other is to the left of 0.

The opposite of 0 is itself,0.

So the opposite of 5 is -5 since both 5 and -5 have the same distance from 0 and one is to the left and one is to the right of 0.

The opposite of 14 is -14 since both have the same distance from 0 and one is to the right and one is to the left of 0.

You can also think of this question as what can I add to 14 that will give me 0.

The answer is -14 since -14+14=0.

Another word for opposites is additive inverses.  When you add additive inverses you get 0.

Another example: What is the opposite of -16?

The answer is 16 since 16+(-16)=0.

PLEASE HELP ME ! Convert the following description to a proper scale ratio:
galina1969 [7]

Answer:

  1 : 400,000

Step-by-step explanation:

A map scale is usually represented as a unit fraction, one with 1 in the numerator. It has no units, which is to say that it is the ratio of same units.

It can be found by dividing the map dimension by the ground dimension when both are expressed in the same units.

  (8.4 cm) / (33.6 km) = (8.4×10^-2 m) / (33.6×10^3 m) = (8.4/33.6)×10^-5

  = 0.25×10^-5 = 1/400,000

__

<em>Additional comment</em>

Map scales are often expressed using the colon for the ratio unit separator:

  1 : 400,000

What are the domain and range of the piecewise function below? HELP ASAP
Vesna [10]

The domain is the set of all point where you can evaluate the function.

As you can see, the first piece is defined from -infinity to 2 (included).

The second piece is defined from 2 to 6 (excluded).

The third piece is defined from 6 (excluded) to +infinity.

So, the domain of the function is composed by all the real numbers which are not 6:

(-\infty,6)\cup(6,\infty) = \mathbb{R}\setminus\{6\} = \{x \in \mathbb{R}\ :\ x\neq 6\}

As for the range, it is the set of all values taken by the function. We can see that the first piece spans the y axis from 0 to infinity.

The second piece is constantly equal to 2, so it adds nothing.

The third piece spans the y axis from -2 to -infinity, so the range is

(-\infty,-2)\cup[0,\infty) = \mathbb{R}\setminus [2,0) = \{x \in \mathbb{R}\ :\ x\geq 0\ \lor\ x
