What is the Pythagorean theorem
____ [38]

Answer:

The Pythagorean theorem is mathematical law. It states that the area of the square whose side is the hypotenuse (the side opposite the right angle) is equal to the sum of the areas of the squares on the other two sides. This theorem can be written as an equation relating the lengths of the legs a, b and the hypotenuse c, often called the Pythagorean equation: a²+b²=c².

A succession of ocean waves set in motion by a submarine earthquake is called
bagirrra123 [75]

D

A tsunami is a succession of ocean waves set in motion by a submarine earthquake.

Explanation:

Usually, an earthquake is caused by the release of energy when two plates that were stuck together, then get released suddenly. Usually, when the plates get unstuck, there is also a sudden displacement beginning at the point they were stuck. If this displacement occurs in the ocean, then the displacement of water at the region also subsequently happens. This displacement becomes a wave that dissipates the energy away from the epicenter. As the wave gets closer to the continental shelf, they grow larger and turn into a tsunami wave that bombards the shores.

This is why there is usually a tsunami warning when an earthquake occurs deep in the ocean.
