<span>B. It quotes a scientist who seems to know a lot about the topic.

A and C are completely wrong. D is a maybe choice, but is wrong because anyone can use real people and places to create a work of fiction. Having a direct quote from a seemingly credible source would lead people to believe the text as fact.</span>

What inference can you make about the reason Arturo dislikes the title of Abuelo’s story in "an hour with Abuelo"?
Tamiku [17]

Answer:

D. Arturo does not think people should just accept whatever life throws at them.

Explanation:

Judith Ortiz Cofer's short story "A Hour With Abuelo" is about a young boy's visit to his grandfather who stays in a nursing home. When he went there, he was told a story by his abuelo who recalled his earlier life.

Even before the young boy heard the story, he had heard his mother say the phrase "<em>Así es la vida"</em>about her grandfather and he had always hated it. For he thinks that one should do what one loves and not let someone else/ life decide it for them. When he heard the story of his abuelo, he also heard the same words, his grandfather saying that it was the title of his life story. He again hated the title for his belief of doing whatever he wants, going after his aim and not letting life dictate the way he live his life. He thinks that people should not just simply accept whatever life throws at them.

Click on the item that contains a dependent-word fragment.
luda_lava [24]

Answer:

a. Before the game even started. I could tell team morale was low.

Explanation:

We are looking for a sentence fragment, or an incomplete sentence. Out of the answer choices, only choice a has a dependent fragment.

a. Before the game even started. I could tell team morale was low.

The first part, "Before the game even started," is not a sentence but rather a clause. It has a subject and verb, to be sure, but it is <em>not a complete thought.</em>

Choices b and c are both complete sentences that use correct clauses.
