1. Bipolar = A world with two superpowers

  • Even though you might think of bipolar disorder involving emotional highs and lows, in reference to the world it means that there are two superpowers. "Bi" means two and "polar" means opposites.

2. Multipolar= A world with many great powers

  • This is similar to bipolar, but instead of two great superpowers, there are multiple (hence "multi").

3. Genocide = The systematic killing of a people group by another

  • Genocide is a term used to describe violence against a group of people based on national, ethnic, racial, or religious groups. The Holocaust, where German Nazis killed Jews, is an example of a genocide. Another example is the genocide of the Tutsi in Rwanda.

4. Humanitarian = A person or group that tries to improve the lives of others

  • Humanitarians promote human welfare and generally offer services or aid to people in need, such as the homeless, refugees, or victims of natural disasters.

5. Ratify = To give formal approval to an agreement

  • This approval is generally given in a signed treaty or contract.

6. Detente = An easing of tensions between two nations

  • This is usually done through verbal communication.

7. Ideology = A system of social beliefs, ideas, and values

  • This is usually in reference to economic or political theory and policy.

The Anti-Federalists are credited with persuading the Federalists to add a Bill of Rights to the United States Constitution. Thi
USPshnik [31]

Answer:

D. They believed it was unnecessary since the Constitution limited the federal government, and each

Explanation:

According to the Philadelphia Convention - a new Constitution for United States provided for a strong government with an extraordinary amount of power given to the president and the senate. The Anti - Federalists charged that the new federal government resembled a monarchy in its concentration of power at the expense of liberty. The Federalists rejected the arguments of the Anti - Federalists by relocating it in the people. They on the other hand argued that since the constitution which represented the people had sought to instruct and control the institutions of government, thus all sovereignty rested with the people and that the Constitution did not need a bill of rights,

The Anti - Federalists held that a bill of rights was necessary to safeguard individual liberty.

Under the leadership of Madison, the first federal Congress attempted to fulfill this promise and proposed twelve amendments to the Constitution. In 1791, ten of them were ratified by the states, and these became the Bill of Rights.

Why<br> was the Byzantine Empire able to flourish when the Western Roman Empire collapsed
Tanya [424]

Answer:

Constantine moved the capital to Byzantium and changed the religious character of the empire from pagan to Christian. This made it different from the Roman Empire.

Despite being the leader of the entire Roman Empire, he made important changes that marked the beginning of what would eventually be called the Byzantine Empire

It also benefited greatly from a stronger administrative center and internal political stability, as well as great wealth compared with other states of the early medieval period.

Explanation:

The Byzantine Empire was the eastern continuation of the Roman Empire after the Western Roman Empire's fall in the fifth century CE. It lasted from the fall of the Roman Empire until the Ottoman conquest in 1453.

Continuities: The Byzantine Empire initially maintained many Roman systems of governance and law and aspects of Roman culture. The Byzantines called themselves "Roman". The term "Byzantine Empire" was not used until well after the fall of the Empire.

Changes: The Byzantine Empire shifted its capital from Rome to Constantinople, changed the official religion to Christianity, and changed the official language from Latin to Greek.
