How to graph f[x]=5x-45

Mathematics

Start off with the y-intercept which is (0,-45) since your b in y=mxtb is -45. Since your slope is 5, your next point would be (1,-40) if towards the right or (-1,-50) if towards the left. The slope is rise over run and 5 is 5 over 1. If towards the right the next point would be 5 units up and 1 units to the right from the previous point. If to the left, you reverse the process.

Find the sum of 3.0478 and 4.92 using the correct number of significant digits.
Nat2105 [25]

The sum of 3.0478 and 4.92 is 7.9678, which have 5 significant digits.

Step-by-step explanation:

We have , Number1 = 3.0478 and Number2 =4.92 . The significant digits of a number are digits that includes all digits except:

 • All leading zeros. For example, "013" has two significant figures: 1 and 3;
 • Trailing zeros when they are merely placeholders to indicate the scale of the number and ,
 • Spurious digits introduced, for example, by calculations carried out to greater precision than that of the original data, or measurements reported to a greater precision than the equipment supports.

Here Number1 = 3.0478 and with significant digit rules Number2 = 4.9200 . Now, Sum of both numbers = Number1 + Number2

⇒Sum of both numbers = 3.0478 + 4.9200

⇒Sum of both numbers = 7.9678

∴ The sum of 3.0478 and 4.92 is 7.9678, which have 5 significant digits.

A hiker walks at a speed of 3 2/5 km per hour. How many km will the hiker walk in 40 min?
ohaa [14]

Answer:

2 4/15 km

Step-by-step explanation:

We know from the above question that:

A hiker walks at a speed of 3 2/5 km per hour.

Step 1

Convert 40 minutes to hour

60 minutes = 1 hour

40 minutes = x

Cross Multiply

60x = 40

x = 40/60

x = 2/3hr

Step 2

How many km will the hiker walk in 40 min?

The above question can be calculated as:

1 hour = 3 2/5km

2/3 hour = x km

Cross Multiply

1 × x km = 2/3 × 3 2/5 km

x km = 2/3 × 17/5 km

x km = 34/15 km

x km = 2 4/15 km

Hence the hiker would walk 2 4/15 km in 4 minutes

Give the starting value a, the growth factor b, and the growth rate r if Q = abt = a(1 + r)t . Write r as a percent.
Misha Larkins [42]

Answer:

Option a:

a=79

b=1.002

r=0.2%

Step-by-step explanation:

Q = 79 (1.002)^t

Q = a b^t = a (1+r)^t

Comparing with the formulas:

a=79

b=1.002

1+r=1.002

Solving for r: Subtrating 1 both sides of the equation:

1+r-1 = 1.002 - 1

r = 0.002

Writting r as percent:

r = (0.002) 100%

r = 0.2%
