According to Erikson, the developmental crisis that occurs after intimacy versus isolation is generativity vs. stagnation. The former happens in early adulthood characterized by a virtue of love or romantic relationships. While the latter happens on actual adulthood stage defined by the virtue of care, work and parenthood.
