A reeve is an administrator of a shire. So WILLIAM comes in and says that all of England is his territory so he gives the land to all the people that fought with him. So the feudal system returns. So Norman nobles were in charge. If you divide it up and you promised people certain things, you need an INVENTORY.
-Domesday Book-inventory of all the property in England. So William can keep track of what he gave who and what their taxes are. Wants to know what he can expect back if he gives people the land.
-William spent most of his time in France and he spoke French, and all his nobles spoke French so England is really francofied now. The kings of England say they are as French as English.
