Computers during World war 2 were normal people who just had an ability to use their brains as a caculator or as a expert scientist would. These people usually had access to prestigious education because of their above average intelligence. Computers stood out from the rest. So your main question is was women held to higher standards? I would answer that with yes and no. Because all computers were held to a very high standard for their job because during those years many things during war depended on them. But on the other hand most computers were men so a woman computer did have to prove she could handle her job just as well as the man.
