Okay, weeks before the battle of New Orleands, the treaty of Ghent was signed which ended the war, but neither side of the war knew. The battle of new Orleans was the last major battle of the war of 1812. Under the command of General Andrew Jackson, american forces successfully fought off the invading British army. If the news of the treaty reached them in time the battle would have never happened.
