Volume of a sphere is
v=4/3 times pi times radius^3
to solve, find the volume of:
a. total egg
b. interior
then subtract b from a and get answer

so
aprox pi to 3.14
v=4/3 times 3.14 times r^3

diameter=2radius
radius=1/2diameter
diameter=5
radius=1/2 of 5
radius=2.5

solve for a.
radius=2.5
subsitute
4/3 times 3.14 times 2.5^3
4/3 times 3.14 times 15.625
65.4167=a

solve for b
radius is only on 1 side so
2.5-1/12=30/12-1/12=29/12=2.4166
subsitute
v=4/3 times 3.14 times 2.4166^3
4/3 times 3.14 times 14.114
59.0906=b

a=65.4167
b=59.0906
a-b=65.4167-59.0906=6.326
tenth is regarding up to the 2nd decimal place
6.32
2<5
6.3 cubic inches or 6.3in^3

answer is 6.3 in^3

Find the surface area of a cylinder with the height of 10 inches and a base diameter of 6 in
sweet-ann [11.9K]

Answer:

339.24

Step-by-step explanation:

To find the surface area, you will need to the the area of the base of the cylinder. To do that, use the formula A=pi (r)^2

The radius is half the diameter do r=3

3.14(3)^2 should give you about 28.27.

This is the area of the top and bottom of the cylinder.

Now, do 28.27x10=282.7 to find the height surface area.

282.7+28.27+28.27=Surface area.

SA= about 339.24

3.14 The waiting time, in hours, between successive speeders spotted by a radar unit is a continuous random variable with cumula
vovangra [49]

Answer:

(a) The probability of waiting less than 12 minutes between successive speeders using the cumulative distribution function is 0.7981.

(b) The probability of waiting less than 12 minutes between successive speeders using the probability density function is 0.7981.

Step-by-step explanation:

The  cumulative distribution function of the random variable <em>X, </em>the waiting time, in hours, between successive speeders spotted by a radar unit is:

F(x)=\left \{ {{0;\ x

(a)

Compute the probability of waiting less than 12 minutes between successive speeders using the cumulative distribution function as follows:

12\ \text{minutes}=\frac{12}{60}=0.20\ \text{hours}

The probability is:

P(X

                  =(1-e^{-8x})|_{x=0.20}\\\\=1-e^{-8\times 0.20}\\\\=0.7981

Thus, the probability of waiting less than 12 minutes between successive speeders using the cumulative distribution function is 0.7981.

(b)

The probability density function of <em>X</em> is:

f_{X}(x)=\frac{d F (x)}{dx}=\left \{ {{0;\ x

Compute the probability of waiting less than 12 minutes between successive speeders using the probability density function as follows:

P(X

                  =8\times [\frac{-e^{-8x}}{8}]^{0.20}_{0}\\\\=[-e^{-8x}]^{0.20}_{0}\\\\=(-e^{-8\times 0.20})-(-e^{-8\times 0})\\\\=-0.2019+1\\\\=0.7981

Thus, the probability of waiting less than 12 minutes between successive speeders using the probability density function is 0.7981.
