They molt because their hard outer shell cannot grow but they can. So as they grow out of their old shells, they break free from it because its to small. After that, they are a bit fleshy for a bit. And then it repeats.

Answer:

In arthropods, molting can be described as the process of shedding of external skeleton ( exoskeleton) so as to enable the organisms to grow.

Arthropods like grasshoppers molt because their exoskeleton ( present outside the body for protection) can not grow larger and therefore needs to shed periodically so that the body can grow larger.

Thus, in order to change the structures and morphological form that is allowing the organism to grow , the tough exoskeleton should be shed periodically and replaced by new, soft exoskeleton ( which becomes harder after some time).

Imagine that zika virus has a 1% incidence in the population. A test for the virus has a 3% false positive rate and no false neg
Darina [25.2K]

Answer:

The answer is 97%.

Explanation:

The zika virus' 1% incidence rate in the population has no effect over the probability of the patient being infected or not. If the test has a 3% false positive rate that means that if it is positive, the results have a 97% chance of being true. Therefore the chance that the person who took the test and had a positive result being actually infected is 97%.

I hope this answer helps.

glucose levels go up in the bloodstream after a meal. beta cells of the pancreas detect the elevated glucose levels. this causes
Keith_Richards [23]

The secretion of insulin into the bloodstream is done through exocytosis and absorption through the capillary arteries.

Insulin is a protein required to process sugar. This is a naturally produced protein for which the pancreas is responsible. The insulin Protein is considered a transport protein. It is responsible for carrying glucose from the bloodstream into cells to be used as energy.

This protein is of vital importance. The secretion of this protein is done through exocytosis, which means that after passing through the ribosomes and the Golgi, it is contained within a membrane, which will then fuse into the plasmatic membrane and be released from the cell. It is then absorbed through the capillaries to enter the bloodstream.

Why does your skin remain red after a bad sunburn? a) Blisters form, lifting the epidermal layer. b) Inflammation causes increas
Mandarinka [93]

Skin remains red after a bad sun burn because:

inflammation causes increased blood flow.

Explanation:

When our skin is exposed to sun rays , the epidermal layer starts getting damaged. The damage to the cell caused by sun rays triggers the melanin secretion. Increased secretion of melanin results in darkening of the exposed region .

However, the damage and inflammation to the skin increases blood flow to the skin, this causes reddening of the skin.
