Analyze the postwar domestic climate in america and explain the growing fear of internal communist subversion
kirza4 [7]
The United States came out of World War II as a victor and the richest country on Earth.

European empire and economics were in ruins and the United States saw an age of socioeconomic growth and self-confidence.

At the same time, Soviet Union, an ally of the US in the war, came out as the only other Super Power in the world.

Both countries were large and had a large stockpile of ammunition and missiles. Soon the soviet union also had some of the largest and most destruction nuclear weapons on earth.

Both countries quickly began a 'cold war' working all over the world for economic and political influence.

During this time, Soviet Propaganda machines and the government were also fueling communist parties in the United States.

As the communist movement within the United States grew and became more mainstream, it was seen as an existential threat to the country itself.

The US government developed a long-term strategy of propaganda and censorship against communism in the country.

Within a decade, there were no major communist parties and no one openly supported Marxism or socialism.
