Its occurs when two species share a common ancestor and evolve a similar trait independent of each other .

Example -

Possums/Australian marsupial mammals are Parallel Evolution . They evolved the marsupial traits independently , but nonetheless share a common ancestor .

Convergent evolution

It occurs when two species without any close common ancestor and evolve a similar trait independent of each other .

Examples -

For instance, birds and bats have very different ancestors indeed. Bats are mammals and bird are not, but both have evolve wings with the capacity for flight .
