Otto von Bismarck was the chief minister of Prussia who played a major role in the unification of Germany.

i) He was the architect of this process who carried out its unification with the help of Prussian army. Three wars over seven years- with Austria, Denmark and France ended in Prussian victory.

ii) With his tactful bureaucracy he made other German speaking states to Join with Prussia forming a German Confederation in 1867.
