Answer:

\frac{9}{32}

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

Ratio of white shapes to black shapes is 5:11

Ratio of white circles to white squares is 3:7

Ratio of black circles to black squares is 3:8

To find: fraction of all the shapes that are circles

Solution:

As ratio of white shapes to black shapes is 5:11,

let number of white shapes be 5 k and number of black shapes by 11 k

As  ratio of white circles to white squares is 3:7,

Number of white circles = \frac{3}{10}(5k)=\frac{3}{2}k

Number of white squares = \frac{7}{10}(5k)=\frac{7}{2}k

As ratio of black circles to black squares is 3:8,

Number of black circles = \frac{3}{11} (11k)=3k

Number of black squares = \frac{8}{11}(11k)=8k

Total number of circles = \frac{3}{2}k+3k=\frac{9}{2} k

Total number of shapes = 5k+11k=16k

Therefore,

Fraction of circles =\frac{\frac{9}{2} k}{16k} =\frac{9}{32}

Ariana is a songwriter who collects royalties on her songs whenever they are played in a commercial or a movie. Ariana will earn
Sloan [31]

Answer:

Commercials x = 7

Movies y = 2

Step-by-step explanation:

Let commercials = x

Let's movies = y

$40 is for commercials

$110 is for movies.

Commercials plus movies for the Year = 9

She earned total of $500

X+ y = 9..... equation 1

40x + 110y = 500.... Equation 2

Multipling equation one by 40

40x + 40y = 360

Subtracting equation one from equation 2

70y = 140

Y = 2

If y = 2

X + y = 9

X + 2 = 9

X = 9-2

X = 7

Find the surface area of the composite solid. Leave your answer in terms of pi
aev [14]

We can separate this solid into two pieces: a cylinder and a cone. I will be finding the surface area's separately, then adding them together in the end.

Cylinder: The formula for the surface area of a cylinder is 2πrh+2πr². HOWEVER, since the cone and cylinder are connected, they don't count as part of the surface area, we don't need the 2 in 2πr². The radius, or r, is 5 cm. The height, or h, is 12 cm. Then, we use those numbers and plug it in the formula.

2πrh+πr²

2π(5)(12)+π(5)²

120π+25π

145π cm²

Cone
<span>:</span> The surface area of the cone without its base is πrL where <em>r</em> is the radius (5) and <em>L</em> is the lateral side (13)
π·5·13=65π

<u>Total</u><u>:</u> We add the total SA of the cylinder and cone together to find the total: 145π+65π = 210π cm²
