Two people that made a great impact on Martin Luther King's nonviolence movement were:

- Howard Thurman, a man who, with his sermons and teaching at Howard University and Boston University, instilled the ideas of nonviolence to King's movement. Thurman himself had obtain the knoledge from Mahatma Gandhi during his trip to India in 1935.

- Bayard Rustin, an American leader in social movements for civil rights, socialism, nonviolence, and gay rights. Rustin promoted the philosophy of nonviolence and the practices of nonviolent resistance, which he had learned while working with Mahatma Gandhi's movement in India, and helped teach Martin Luther King, Jr. about nonviolence.

The problem with these however is that with lower monthly/periodic payments, the debt will take longer to be paid off. This will give interest more time to accrue on the debt and will ultimately result in her paying more than she would have if she doesn't use income-based repayment plans.
