1. Not having to worry about constantly moving

2. Knowing your ground and surroundings

3. Can expand your ground and start a community where you are

The rubber was becoming more and more popular because of its properties, practicality, and cheapness, so it too was on the wish list. The ivory though lost its importance. In the past it was very important, but the times have changed and numerous other things have become much more useful and valuable, so it was not a priority.
