His proclamation changed the minds of many Americans who supported the war in Vietnam which caused many politicians to change their views on the war as well. A famous example would be Lyndon B. Johnson who decided not to run for another mandate.

What does the analogy "between women being citizens without the right to vote and sitting in a row boat without any oars mean?
Llana [10]
What it is saying is it is like having a peanut butter jelly sandwich without the bread. It is ridiculous and something that is needed to make a whole of something. So like per say, you have a teddy bear but you buy that teddy bear but it has no filling in it. So it's like claiming to be a car salesman, without the cars. I hope this helps, sorry if it doesn't make sense.

What assumption does the writer of an allusion make about the reader? A. That the reader does not have the background knowledge
trasher [3.6K]

Answer:

D. That the reader has the background knowledge to understand the allusion

Explanation:

If there is an allusion to Venus the goddess of beauty, the counterpart of Aphrodite(Greek Mythology), someone who does not have any background knowledge about Roman mythology or mythology in general would assume the writer is referring to Venus, the planet rather than the goddess.

In order to understand an allusion as used by a writer, the reader must have adequate knowledge as this was expected of the reader by the writer.
