Answer:

What is peer pressure?

A peer is like a friend. Peer pressure is when the friend pressures you to do something.

Example:

You and your friends go out one night. You all see something that you know is wrong if you do it (ex. Smoking, drinking, rock concerts, tattoo etc). Your friends go, and invite you to join them, and you refuse, cause you know it's wrong.

Your friends then tell you that "Your not cool" or "If you don't go, you're not our friend anymore". They are pressuring you to join them.

And that's basically peer pressure, and believe me, I actually fell for it, but it was for rollercoasters, not smoking or drinking or all that stuff.

Hope this helps!

Which factor directly influenced this donation?
Pavel [41]

The factor that directly influenced the donation by the Ladies' Aide Society of Cedar Rapids is a sense of urgency.

Why did the Ladies' Aide Society of Cedar Rapids make a donation?

After the oil spill, there were several sea animals affected because they got caught in the oil.

If this oil wasn't cleaned off them fast enough, they risked death. The donation was therefore made because there was a sense of urgency relating to the time before the wildlife would suffer death.

The excerpt is:

After an oil spill off the California coast, the Ladies’ Aide Society of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, raised money to send to volunteers who were cleaning the oil from the skin and feathers of the affected wildlife.

What messages does our society send to young men about masculinity and what it means to be a man?
Mashutka [201]

Answer:

They can send different messages to people

Explanation:

Masculinity (also called manhood or manliness) is a set of attributes, behaviors, and roles associated with boys and men. Traits traditionally viewed as masculine in Western society include strength, courage, independence, leadership, and assertiveness.

Toxic masculinity is also implicated in socially-created public health problems, such as elevated rates of skin cancer among men, and the role of “trophy-hunting” sexual behavior in rates of transmission of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections.

Fragile masculinity refers to anxiety felt by men who believe they are falling short of cultural standards of manhood. • Fragile masculinity can motivate compensatory attitudes/behaviors meant to restore the threatened status of 'real' manhood.

Hegemonic masculinity is defined as a practice that legitimizes men's dominant position in society and justifies the subordination of the common male population and women, and other marginalized ways of being a man.

There are many different ways that MASCULINITY can define a man.
