The 7 is the "dividend" and it goes inside the box, the 3.5 is the "divisor" and it goes outside the box. if you count how many times the 3 fits inside the 7, you might get your answer or the first number of your "quotient." Keep that process until you get your answer or a zero for your reminder (or go as close to 0 as you can to get an accurate answer.)
