It's Soviet Union. The soviet union aided North Korea with medical assistance providing over 20 doctors and of course war material in which they provided PPSh-41 or the "burp gun" nicknamed that because of the sound it made any other war materials. In which is why North Korea is a communist country and South Korea is democratic being that the American troops occupied there in South Korea.. not north.

Due process and equal protection under the law-- due process requires laws be carried out fairly and equally. 

The laws of the US are suppose to be "blind" in particular for the justice system. Despite the sex, race, or origin of a person laws should be executed and judged equally. Despite the expectation the system does fall short because it relies on the unbiased thinking of the citizen which is difficult to come by. As a result the whole corrections system deals with the issues like the example in the question where race, ethnicity, sex, and social class can determine the outcome of arrests and ruling on laws.

They wanted to blockade the Southern coast to prevent them from receiving resources from other countries. They also wanted to capture the Mississippi River to effectively cut the Confederacy in half (Battle of Vicksburg). The final step in their plan was to capture the Confederate capital city (Richmond).
