Langston poem is basically talking about a dream deferred of that speaks about what happens to a dream when they are put on hold or at rest. So, when the poem leaves it up to the reader or the writer to decide what dream is being questioned. In the opening of the poem the speaker most likely uses a visual image that is also a simile to compare a dream deferred to a raisin. (“ Like a raisin in the sun?”)
