Event:

  • Moshe the Beadle is deported cause he is a foreign jew.
  • Elizer Wiesel was tutored by Moshe the Beadle in his home.
  • Fascists gain control in Hungary which allowed the Nazis to invade
  • Eliezer and others were packed into cattle cars and were tortured.
  • They arrived at Birkenau and smelt burning flesh and seen smoke coming through chimneys.

Response:

  • When Moshe returned and told them stories no one believed him.
  • Wiesel was well schooled before Moshe was deported they did not believe the stories cause they thought they were protected as Jews.
  • Again Wiesel's family wasn't afraid so they refused help from a women who offered them a place to refuge.
  • They thought it was a terrifying ride and suffered terribly.
  • A women was yelling about what looks to be a fire as they neared the Birkenau.
  • They arrived to the smell of burning flesh and smoke which scares them all.

What happens next:

  • Moshe was stuck in cattle cars and went through pain and suffering
  • Moshe was then deported then came back with horrific stories that no one believed
  • The town was then ordered to evacuate, the Jews believed that nothing will happen to them so they refused help from others.
  • While in the cattle car a women was screaming about a fire and the other prisoners had to quiet her.
  • Birkenau was on fire and they were burning bodies of Jews in holes.
