The short story of "Harrison Bergeron" by Kurt Vonnegut is a of a science fictional dystopian setting. The depiction of equality through the forceful elimination of any difference shows the extremes that a government will go to make their power known and obeyed.

The protagonist of the story Harrison Bergeron was an intelligent person, who had been deemed different and made to wear disguises to hide his "<em>superiority</em>". Set in the futuristic year of 2081, the government's dictates of literal "<em>equality for all</em>" made it too much like a dictatorial power. The people were forcefully made to conform to their proposed "normal" label. For the sake of equality, the government resort to using force on its citizens.
