Answer:

Trough the Haitian Revolution

Explanation:

In 1791 Saint-Domingue was a French Colony,  where blacks and mulattoes suffered from slavery by the hands of the French colonial rule, this was at a time where slavery was still a very common practice in the colonies around the world.

Caribbean Colonies where very important to Britains, Spaniards, and French because they where axis points to connect to America and establish Maritime ports.

Saint-Domingue was the target of both Spaniards and British and as soon as they notice an opportunity to gain control of the Island, they helped the natives and slaves on their wish of stopping abuses caused by the french by giving them weapons and intelligence.

Toussaint L´Ouverture a slave, lead the revolution that started on 22 August 1791. The forces were so strong that the French surrendered and on 29 August 1793 the slavery ended with the declaration of abolition.

Although the french rule and their slavery practice ended in 1793 the new government also had harsh practices involving forced work on farms, the slavery did end in 1793 but new practices similar to slavery remained.
