Read the excerpt from act 3, scene 1, of Julius Caesar. ANTONY. O pardon me, thou bleeding piece of earth, That I am meek and ge

ntle with these butchers! Thou art the ruins of the noblest man That ever livèd in the tide of times. Woe to the hand that shed this costly blood! Over thy wounds now do I prophesy— Which like dumb mouths do ope their ruby lips To beg the voice and utterance of my tongue— A curse shall light upon the limbs of men; Domestic fury and fierce civil strife Shall cumber all the parts of Italy; Blood and destruction shall be so in use, And dreadful objects so familiar, That mothers shall but smile when they behold< Their infants quartered with the hands of war, All pity choked with custom of fell deeds; And Caesar’s spirit, ranging for revenge, With Ate by his side come hot from hell, Shall in these confines with a monarch’s voice Cry "Havoc!” and let slip the dogs of war, That this foul deed shall smell above the earth With carrion men, groaning for burial. What are the central ideas of this soliloquy? Select three options. Antony wants Caesar to forgive him for being nice to his conspirators. Antony is so upset about Caesar’s death that he can barely speak. Antony predicts that the land will be bloodied by men fighting men. Antony foresees mothers begging that their children be slain to spare them. Antony expects Caesar's ghost to seek retribution for the wrongs done.

Answer:

Antony wants Caesar to forgive him for being nice to his conspirators.

Antony predicts that the land will be bloodied by men fighting men.

Antony expects Caesar's ghost to seek retribution for the wrongs done.

Explanation:

In the excerpt from Shakespeare's "Julius Caesar," Antony stands next to Caesar's body and <u>asks him for forgiveness for talking politely to his murderers</u>: "<em>O pardon me, thou bleeding piece of earth, That I am meek and gentle with these butchers</em>!"

Then he foresees that<u> a curse will fall, that there will be a terribly violent civil war, and that people will become evil and cruel</u>:

"<em>A curse shall light upon the limbs of men; Domestic fury and fierce civil strife Shall cumber all the parts of Italy; Blood and destruction shall be so in use, And dreadful objects so familiar, That mothers shall but smile when they behold Their infants quartered with the hands of war, All pity choked with custom of fell deeds (...)</em>"

Finally, he refers to <u>Caesar's ghost, who will come back for revenge</u>:

"<em>And Caesar’s spirit, ranging for revenge, With Ate by his side come hot from hell, Shall in these confines with a monarch’s voice Cry "Havoc!” and let slip the dogs of war (...)</em>"

Why do you think Elizabethan audiences would enjoy a play that included supernatural characters?
vodomira [7]

The era from the Queen Elizabeth I is the period in the Tudor era of the history of England during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I from 1558 to 1603. Historians often portray it as the golden age in English history. The symbol of Britannia, a female personification of Great Britain, was first used in 1572, and subsequently, to mark the Elizabethan age as a renaissance that inspired national pride through classical ideals, international expansion, and naval triumph over Spain.

This "golden age" signified the pinnacle of the English Renaissance and saw the flowering of poetry, music and literature. The era is most famous for theatre, as William Shakespeare and many others composed plays that broke free of England's past style of theatre. It was an age of exploration and expansion abroad, while back at home, the Protestant Reformation became more acceptable to the people, most certainly after the Spanish Armada was repelled. It was also the end of the period when England was a separate realm before its royal union with Scotland.

The Elizabethan age also contrasts sharply with the previous and following sovereignties. It was a brief period of inner peace between the English Reformation and the religious battles between Protestants and Catholics and the political battles between parliament and the monarchy that consumed the remainder of the seventeenth century.

The relative peace of mind that Elizabeth gave the British allowed them to start to believe more freely, without the fear of the church condemning their soul they could express, enjoy and exercise their faith more freely.

Due to the all the previous information presented,  we can conclude that Elizabethan audiences would enjoy a play that included supernatural characters because in that moment:

A. Many people believed in the power of the prophecy.

The correct answer is D. A good life comes from doing what makes you happy. Teaching English is what the character really wishes to do whereas his parents obviously think about the financial prospects and not about what makes their son happy.

Categorize each item as an example of a word with either a positive connotation or a neutral denotation.
Andreyy89

Neutral connotation: house, fact, vegetation. Neutral connotation implies that the words used do not carry an extra meaning based on emotions. In this case, the words “house, fact, and vegetation” do not imply another meaning, just the literal one.

Positive connotation: home, happiness, rose. Positive connotation implies that the words carry an extra meaning apart from the literal one and affects positively in the context used. In this case, the word “home” implies the physical place as in house but it also implies that it is a cozy place where we feel comfortable. The word “happiness” is by itself a word with a positive connotation since we associate it with good things. And finally, the word “rose” has also a positive connotation since it is associated with love, flowers and spring.

Ivanshal [37]

Answer:

Anarchists

Explanation:

According to the excerpt from "Civil Disobedience", it is described by the narrator that he is unlike the "no-government men" who doesn't want any form of government, but rather he wants a better government.

From this narration, the term that could best replace "no-government men" in the excerpt is anarchists.

This is because an anarchist is a person that does not want any form of government, but rather disorder and chaos.
