In "Everyday Use," the main conflict comes from the different uses that Dee and Maggie want to give to the homemade quilts that they inherited from their grandmother. Dee believes that heritage needs to be preserved as a special treasure. Therefore, she thinks that the quilts are too precious to be used everyday. On the other hand, Maggie believes that heritage should be considered part of one's life, and therefore, the quilts should be used everyday.
