The correct answers are C) Direct attacks on US ships and D) Germany’s attempted alliance with Mexico

The factors that pushed the United States to the breaking point and were deciding factors in the United States’ decision to enter the war were direct attacks on US ships and Germany’s attempted alliance with Mexico.

President Woodrow Wilson had promised to maintain the foreign policy of neutrality and no participation in the European issues. However, two main things happened that made President Wilson change his mind: the sinking of the Lusitania ship and the interception of the Zimmerman telegram in which Germany asked help to Mexico in Worl War 1. Wilson had to ask Congress for a declaration of war against Germany and the United States entered World War 1 on April 6, 1917.
