Why was the British defeat at fort Oswego a strategic loss for them
telo118 [61]

The Battle of Fost Oswego was fought in 1756 betwee the French and British forces in North America, modern-day Canada.

It was part of a wider conflict going on between the British and France, part of the global 7 years war.

Britain lost this battle and was a heavy loss as the Forst Oswego held a strategic position in the region.

Not only did the British loss result in 1,700 of them being taken as captives, the French were able to control the 121 cannons situated in the fort, giving them a huge advantage in the area.

This also meant that the French were able to keep the British away from Lake Ontario and intrupt British access to French town of  Fort Frontenac.
