Sally's brother is color-blinded. her husband is normal. what is the chance for her son to be color-blinded?
lozanna [386]

The inheritance of colorblindness gene is X linked. Sally is a female, she'll have two copies of X chromosomes. Since she is not colorblind indicates that she is a carrier of the gene, the presence of at least one functional gene on either of the X chromosome in Sally prevented colorblindness in her. The chances that her husband will have a colorblind child is 25% (1:3) and 50% for the colorblind son (1:1),based on the solved punnett square in the image, where X' denotes the colorblindness gene.

Is being in a "habitable zone" enough to say the planet is habitable for human life? What characteristics would an Earth-like pl
NeTakaya
It is not. Habitable does not mean to humans but in general to life forms. It just means that the range of orbits around a star within which a planetary surface can support liquid water given sufficient atmospheric pressure and that some form of organic life could develop, but this does mean that humans could live in them. They should definitely spend more time looking at them because the processes in those planets might be harmful to humans so humans shouldn't just try to visit them before understanding them.

The rules of base pairing explain the phenomenon that whatever the amount of adenine in the DNA of an organism, the amount of thymine is the same. Similarly, whatever the amount of guanine, the amount of cytosine is the same.
