Solving AequalsPeSuperscript rt for P, we obtain PequalsAeSuperscript negative rt which is the present value of the amount A du

e in t years if money earns interest at an annual nominal rate r compounded continuously. For the function Pequals4,000eSuperscript negative 0.08 t, in how many years will the $4,000 be due in order for its present value to be $2,000? In nothing years, the $4,000 will be due in order for its present value to be $2,000.

Answer:

in 8.6 year will be $4000 be due in order present value $2000

Step-by-step explanation:

given data

P = 4,000 e^{-0.08t}

amount = $4000

present value = $2000

solution

we consider here present value P and amount A t time at annual nominal year rate r

so

P = Ae^{-0.08t}    .................1

so put here P is $2000 and  is and A is $4000

2000 = 4000 e^{-0.08t} take ln both side

ln \frac{2000}{4000} = ln  e^{-0.08t}

ln2 - ln 4 = -0.08 t

t = 8.664

so in 8.6 year will be $4000 be due in order present value $2000

A necklace regularly sells for $18.00. the store advertises a 15% discount. what is the sale price of the necklace in dollars
SSSSS [86.1K]
I can solve with 2 methods:

I. Because the discount is 15 % of 18 $ , the price will be (100-15=85) 85 % of 18 $
18*85/100= 15,3 $ ( the sale price)

II. The discount is 15 % of 18$
15*18/100= 2,7$  ( the discount)
then I decrease it from the regularly price
18$-2,7$=15,3 $ (the sale price)

Personally I believe the first is an easier method.
I hope you understand and you can apply this in every similary problem.

jose bought 4 comic books and 2 nonfiction books. the 4 comic books cost him 8y dollars.if the cost of one nonfiction book is (3
professor190 [17]

write out the equation:

8y=3+7y  (I'm assuming y is the amount of comic books)
8=3+7
8=10

Obviously the equation isn't equal. The nonfiction is greater. By the way, I took out the y because I assumed that y was the amount of books and there was no need to write out 8 times one. On a test, make sure you specify this of the teacher may take off points, if she is using Common Core.
