The Soviet Union's launch of Sputnik was really a wake up call for the United States. America was still basking in the glory of winning World War ll and thought that they were the best and that no one could beat them. When we realized that the Soviets were ahead of us in the space race, President Kennedy scrambled to catch up (NASA was created). But, no one was really sure about what Sputnik did. Citizens thought that it could tap into radio waves and spy on them or take pictures of what they were doing (It was really just a satellite), but the unknown really scared Americans.

irina1246 [14]

Answer:

What were some of the factors that led to exodus of Africa-America from the south to the north
iren [92.7K]

After the slavery was officially abolished in all of the US, the African Americans were quick to move out of the South and migrate massively toward the North. There were several factors as to why this happened. One big factor was that even though the slavery was abolished, the segregation and discrimination continued, so the opportunities in life were very limited. The South was not industrialized, while the North was heavily industrialized, thus the African Americans saw an opportunity to work in the factories instead in the fields. The atmosphere in the North was much better for them, as the majority of the people welcomed them and had no problems with them because of their skin color.
