According to the dichotomous key, the name of the plant shown above is Albizia julibrissin.

A dichotomous key is a tool designed by scientists to allow its user to determine the identity of organisms or objects. The key contains several choices/questions mainly on the observable characteristics of the unknown organism. The questions are usually in steps and in two parts. The questions must be correctly answered because it guides the user to the correct name (scientific) of the unknown organism.

According to the dichotomous key given above, from the first step, the plant shown has broad leaves (1b) which directs one to step 2. In the second step, the plant has many leaflets (2b) which directs one to step 4. It can be observed that the leaves edges are smooth. This last step which also states the right feature of the plant shows that the name of the plant is Albizia julibrissin.

Andru [333]

Answer:

Stage IV - There is a primary tumor, lymph node involvement and metastases.

Explanation:

Staging is the extent of spread of tumor within the patient.

The American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC) divides all cancers into Stages 0 - IV, incorporating into each stage several TNM (tumor/node/metastasis) stages usually with the same prognosis.

Staging is essential in determining the patient prognosis.

The approximate 5-year survival rate for colorectal cancer patients of all stages is 64.4% (In the United States) and survival is inversely related to stage.

Surgery usually provides the only curative option for patients diagnosed with Stage IV colon cancer.

Which mechanism(s) are responsible for introducing new alleles into a population's gene pool?
Elena-2011 [213]

Answer: The right answer is -

A) Gene flow

Explanation:

Gene flow is a process of gene migration or the transfer of gene variant (also called allele, which is responsible for genetic variation in population) from one population to another population.

As a consequence of gene migration, new alleles are introduced or added in the already existing population, thereby increasing genetic diversity.

Thus, option A) is the right answer.

There are many factors that may cause a mutation in a gene. Which of the following events would be most likely to cause a mutati
vlabodo [156]

Answer:

Since there are many factors that can produce a mutation, the event that would be most likely to cause a mutation is a nucleotide is inserted into a DNA strand.

Explanation:

A genetic mutation involves an alteration of the DNA that leads to a defect in protein synthesis and a structural or functional alteration of an individual.

Of all the factors that can produce a mutation, the insertion of one or two nucleotides into the DNA strand produces a point mutation, or molecular mutation, of the insertion type.

The other options are not correct because the processes of mRNA traveling out of the nucleus, mRNA releasing from the DNA strand or enzymatic transcription of mRNA in the nucleus can carry over a mutation produced in the DNA, but they are not mutation-producing factors.
