The weaknesses of the Articles of Confederation is that they established a weak national government that was not capable of enforcing laws. Shay’s rebellion demonstrated this as the government did not have the army to quash the rebellion. Problems that arose during ratification of the constitution include a conflict between the federalists who wanted a strong government and anti-federalists who were worried that a strong central government threatened the liberties of people.
