Secondly, The Battle of Stalingrad is the name by which one of the most famous confrontations of the Second World War was popularly known, beginning at the end of 1942 and ending in February of the following year. In this battle, the Red Army and the Wehrmacht faced each other, vying for control of the city of Stalingrad. Third, D-Day is the name popularly given on June 6, 1944, the day on which Operation Overlord began during World War II, in which the Allies made a massive landing on the beaches of Normandy to take dominion from Germany in Western Europe.
