Doppio Movimento is one of the sections in Appalachian Spring and it works through a set of variations which are used to tell the story of a farmer and his young bride.

These variations are five in number and were influenced by a shaker theme called, "The Gift to be Simple." The movement in English refers to a calm and flowing movement to usher in the last section, "Moderato."
