The Watts Towers or <em>Nestro Pueblo</em> ( our town ) were built by Sabatino "Simon" Rodia, over a period of 33 years. It is a collection of 17 interconnected towers, sculptures, mosaics, pavements and walls built by Simon alone.

He was not a professional artist due to which he is recognized as a folk or an Outsider artist ( Art Brut) . It means individuals who are self taught with little or no proper education of art. They are also known as Naïve artists. Simon labored alone over three decades to construct what is known as Watts towers today.
