Can someone please help me? :(
Arisa [49]

Answer:

A. To bend in a different direction.

Explanation:

To deflect something is to change/redirect/reverse its original course & direction.

For example, if you kick a soccer ball and the goal keeper deflects it, they are changing its course so that the ball goes in a different direction rather than going into the goal.

The prefixes, suffixes, and roots in the chart hint at this with:

"Reverse"

"Angle"

"To Bend"

How does Poe refine the idea in the poem "Annabel Lee" that true love can turn into obsession?
Fittoniya [83]
I would have to say B. But don't rely on this! Here is my explanation;

High-born would mean that he is more important or in a higher grade. In this text, he refers him to be high-born because he is rich and she loves him. He [not the high-born] Loves her so much, he is there when she is on the boat [or what he refers to], her death, and more places [I have not read this poem in a while].

Then again, don't rely on this answer! I did my best. It was either B. or C. to me. B. made more sense to me, but we are two different people!

How can you use context clues to understand the author’s meaning?
Andreas93 [3]

Answer:

When attempting to decipher the meaning of a new word, it is often useful to look at what comes before and after that word. The surrounding words can give readers helpful context clues about the meaning and structure of the new word, as well as how it is used.
