They move few centimeters per year, either towards each other or apart from each other. This movement of these plates causes Earthquakes and Volcanoes.

Volcanoes are formed at the boundaries of these tectonic plates.

The mid-ocean ridges or underwater mountains are formed from the volcanic activity. Volcanoes that are formed at mid-ocean ridge is when two plates move apart from each other. In this activity, the plates move away from each other, magma rises up between the cracks and then it cools down and gets hardened up.

Remarkably, there were another man, Israel Bissell, who played a huge role in this historic ride to warn people that the British were coming. Bissell is on the same mission as Revere, but he managed to keep riding long after Revere was captured. Bissell rode on horseback for 345 miles throughout four states. Bissell's journey hasn't been remembered as well as Revere's because his name isn't in Longfellow's poem. Many people blame this on the fact that Revere is easier to rhyme with!
