Identify one key trait of a totalitarian state. How did Stalin use the "weapons" of totalitarianism to force that trait onto Sov
Vinil7 [7]

Answer:

Control by a single party/ leader.

Explanation:

During the late 1920's, the Soviet Union of Russia went through a tremendous political, social and economical change under the leadership of Joseph Stalin.

Joseph Stalin introduced a totalitarian form of regime in the Soviet Union by enforcing the 'four weapons' of totalitarianism. They were police force, indoctrination and propaganda, censorship, and religious persecution.

Totalitarianism is the control of the state by a single party without any opposition party. By nature of its form, Stalin used methods of control and persuasion with full authority. He crushed any opposition through violence and military force, indoctrinated the people with biased set of beliefs and censored all forms of media and communications.

He also wanted to eliminate religious values and bring the ideals of communism in the Soviet society. Religious groups and leaders were persecuted in large numbers. Stalin has immensely forced the traits of totalitarianism into the Soviet society during his leadership. It had a big impact on the political, social and economic scenario of the Soviet Union.
