Based on your knowledge of blackbodies, should the hotter star or the cooler star be more luminous
Liono4ka [1.6K]

Answer:

Hotter star is more luminous.

Explanation:

A blackbody is an object that absorbs all the radiation incident on it. It does not reflect or let the radiation pass through it.

When the radiations are absorbed, the blackbody heats up. This results in the emission of radiation by the blockbody.

The amount of radiation the black body emits, depends upon the temperature of the blackbody. Therefore, greater the temperature of the blackbody, more the emitted radiation.

A star is very similar to a blackbody. So, if two stars are compared, then the hotter star will emit more light as compared to the cooler star.

Therefore, the hotter star will be more luminous than the cooler star.

How do the mighty himalayas affect the climate in india
ch4aika [34]

Answer:

The Himalayas play a very important role in influencing the climate of India. India is a monsoon land only because of the presence of Himalayas. It traps the monsoon winds from Arabian sea and Bay of Bengal and forces them to shed their moisture content within the Indian sub-continent in the form of snow and rain. It also blocks the cold winter storms of East Asia from entering India, thus protecting us from severe cold. The Himalayas splits the westerly jet streams into two branches such that the southward branch entering India plays a significant role in bringing the monsoon.
