Answer/Explanation:

Alyss  mopped the floor, and began to clean the dust off the walls, when eventually she spotted a

doorknob on the floor.

“That’s strange I don’t remember this when I was mopping.” she said curiously.

She began walking toward the other side of the store when she spotted a hole in the wall.

“It’s already time to close up!”  Luffy said surprised, as he checked the clock.

This alerted the others to come, except Alyss. Simultaneously, Alyss was screwing in the knob

and turning it. “Creak!” went the doors rusty old hinges. Alyss called the others back to check

out the door.

“Is this the door the paper from the attic was talking about?”  “I  this what will fix that

fatal day?” Luffy thought to himself.

Once Everyone was at the door, they all peered in.

When they looked in cold damp room, they spotted a book on the floor. This was nothing like Will had imagined and began to wonder if the paper he found was malarkey.

“What is this place?” Alyss asked in awe.

“I don’t know,” responded Luffy as he began to pick up the book and flip through the pages.  Once the book was opened Will and his friends shot back in time like a gust of wind. Little did they know that an ancient beast was brought back to life to kill the ones who open the book.

“Where are we now?” asked Mabel.

“No, the question is; When are we?” Ethan told Mabel.             The group appeared behind a tent and as they looked around, they realized they were at the time when Ponce De Leon founded Florida. They smelled the fresh coast that was much different than how it was later.

“Shh, I hear someone coming.” whispered Luffy.

“Well, look who it is, the commander of the French army.” said Ponce from inside the tent.         “I want this land of yours here, and if you don’t give it to me your whole army dies.”

“What do you want with it anyway” the man asked.

“Let’s just say I got this tiny bomb that I am going to plant on this land, then I am going to sell it to the Americans and once the clock knows it is the year of 2018 it will explode!”

The man refused, then the conversation ended with a “Slash!” and “Thump!”. The group gasped at what they heard about the upcoming doom that was near to come at the end of the year. This startled Ponce and he walked around the tent and spotted the kids.

“Get these kids!” he shouted. “I don’t want them spreading any news about our plans!”         They ran into the forest of trees being chased by thousands of soldiers.

After a few minutes of running, Alyss yelled, “Stop, I found another door in this tree!”

They ran over to where Alyss was. Together they opened the door a jumped in. Then they waited a few seconds for the soldiers run past the tree. Then Luffy turned around and looked at the book. The title of the dusty book was Luffy’s Big Mistake. Will instantly knew what it meant. Before Will opened the book to fix his problems and become a millionaire when he was stopped. A ghostly figure snatched his friends.

“I am the Bookkeeper, keeper of these precious books!” his voice boomed. “You must make the decision to get your friends back and hand over the book or to keep the book and let your friends die! I will give you two minutes to think about it.”

The ghost disappeared and left Luffy alone to think to himself. …

Luffy thought to himself for a few minutes thinking about all the good times he had with his

friends. He knew if he lost his friends, he would not forgive himself and will be feel eternally

depressed. Luffy knew what he had to do.          “Ghost come back; I have made my decision!” Luffy shouted.

The ghost appeared at Luffy’s command.

With a scratchy whisper/scream voice he asked, “What is your choice boy, give me the

book or lose your friends forever!”

Luffy told him he wanted his friends and he handed him the book. The ghost vanished.

Luffy woke up in his bed, thinking that it was all a dream. Luffy looked at his hand that was  covered in dust from the book, he instantly knew that that was no dream. Luffy laid his head  back on his pillow and began to think about what would happen if he kept the book. Indeed, he  would have been a millionaire, but he would also have been the murderer of his friends. He  realized that money really doesn’t bring happiness, only the people around you can.

“I made the right choice.” Luffy whispered to himself, getting up for the new day.

“Today will be a great day for greater choices” Luffy thought.

Truly that day could never been greater.

Analyze At the end of the story, Mrs. Delacroix selects a huge stone and urges Mrs. Dunbar to hurry. Explain why this is ironic
lbvjy [14]

Answer:

The act/ behavior of Mrs. Delacroix is ironic for she seemed to have more respect and interest in preserving the tradition than her friend's life.

This instance of irony shows that the villagers hold the power of tradition more important than the barbaric tradition of putting someone to death just for a "good harvest".

Explanation:

Shirley Jackson's short story "The Lottery" set in an unnamed village in an unspecified time/year tells of a village's annual ritual of stoning one person to death as a way of 'offering' for a goof harvest. This ritual is barbaric and the people in the village also knows it but they wouldn't change it anyway.

The present year's lot fell on the Hutchinsons, where another lot drew Tessie out as the year's 'winner'. Mrs. Delacroix seemed to be a close friend of Tessie, for we see them standing together and talking while the lottery was about to start. But once the "winner" had been chosen and Tessie "won", Mrs. Delacroix began to take the biggest stone, "<em>so large she had to pick it up with both hands</em>" and urged Mrs. Dunbar to hurry so that she can get back to her house chores. This is ironic, considering she seemed to be close to Tessie just few minutes back. But now, she doesn't seem to have any remorse or pity for her friend.

The ironic or unexpected behavior of Mrs. Delacroix in wanting to get the "ritual" over with, shows not only her but also the whole village's ingrained practice of the annual ritual. They seem to keep more importance on tradition, even if it seemed barbaric, than saving a friend's life. So accustomed are they to the long standing tradition of the "lottery" that they seemed to know nothing better but observe it and be done with.

An airplane takes off when the upward force beneath its wings is greater than the downward force of gravity. Starting from when
alexandr1967 [171]

Answer:

There's no short answer.

Explanation:

The engines start working by burning fuel, this in turn starts turning the engine blades and the blades suck in air and push it out from the back of the engines. This creates a force that pushes the airplane forward. As the volume of air that goes in and out of the engines increase, so does the kinetic energy the airplane has. At a specific speed, depending a lot of factors such as the weight of the airplane, the length of the wings etc, the force that the moving air provides from beneath the wings surpasses the force of gravity that is applied to the plane, the plane takes off.

I hope this answer helps.

Ovid created suspense in "Pyramus and Thisbe" by dragging on Pyramus discovering the fate of his love which was all untrue.
