Answer:

From 1920 to 1933 there was a Prohibition law in the United States which banned the sale, production, importation, and exportation of Alchohol. Many gangsters sold Alcohol during this time and Al Capone was one of the most infamous. This was a very lucrative industry at the time with mobsters being able to make millions. The most powerful gangsters were fighting over territory to sell their alchohol and stealing each others illegal shipments. This created lots of violence and murder as the gangsters were in war, killing each other for more power over this beer business. At one point Capone had to buy a bulletproof car, to protect himself because he was a huge target from many other gangsters. Many innocent people were killed in the process as gangsters were shooting at each other and trying to kill off their competition.

According to Pericles, what differentiates Athenians from their neighbors? They are more war hungry. They are an example of demo
horrorfan [7]

<u>The correct answer is "an example of democracy"</u>. <em><u>Pericles</u></em>, who lived between 495 and 429 BC, was one of the most important Athenian politicians and orators. His ingenuity allowed this Greek city to stand as a unique cultural engine when producing the most varied and successful works, whether in the political, philosophical (with the examples of <em><u>Socrates and Plato</u></em>), artistic or historical. <em><u>Pericles' idea</u></em> was that <em><u>the poor because they were poor, would not be prevented from participating in active political life.</u></em> It is surprising that the word democracy was so literally applied in classical Athens. Because the popular power of government was not in the hands of elected representatives, but the people themselves exercised power. <em><u>Therefore, the popular assembly, the most relevant institution, constituted by all the citizens, was sovereign, and its power and radius of action was not limited by anything: this means that the one that best dominated the art of persuasion, the one that better talk, enthuse or please the audience was the one who could take the political command of the city.</u></em>

Why was the growing conflict between the Soviet Union and the United States known as the Cold War?
Natalija [7]

Explanation:

It's called the Cold War because no actual military engagement took place between the United States and the USSR (Union of Soviet Socialist Republics). Instead, fighting took place in proxy wars conducted in "third-world" countries. The United States and USSR clashed over their economic and political philosophies.
