The major difference between Leutchtenburg's and Interrante's interpretations of cities and rural areas during the 1920s was the geographical reorganization of rural and urban areas. The regions were drawn together and a more independent relationship between them. The relationship was evident in towns and cities which outlined difference around urban centres. The towns attracted people from the surrounding countryside and central cities. Farm families which were converted to surrounding countryside were tied to urban culture and urban market. People habits of consumption were charged by shifting from direct production of goods to be purchasing them markets of metropolitan and this made women go to the marketplace and come out of the household.
