Hi Kimberly!

-(19 - 3s) - (8s + 1) = 35
-19 + 3s -8s - 1 = 35
-19 - 1 + 3s - 8s = 35
-20 - 5s = 35
-5s =35 + 20
-5s = 55
Divide both sides by -5
-5s/-5 = 55/-5
s = -11

-(19 - 3s) - (8s + 1) = 35

Simplify.

-19 + 3s - 8s - 1 = 35

Add like terms.

(3s - 8s) + (-19 - 1) = 35

Simplify.

-5s - 20 = 35

Add 20 to both sides of the equation.

-5s = 55

Divide both sides by -5.

s = 11

Tomtit [17]

Answer:

Option D. 272

Step-by-step explanation:

we know that

To evaluate the sum , use the formula

S=\frac{1}{2}(a1+an)n

where

a1 is the first term

an is the last term

n is the number of terms

In this problem

For n=1 ------> a1=2(1)=2

For n=16 ------> an=2(16)=32

n=16 terms

substitute in the formula

S=\frac{1}{2}(2+32)16

S=272
