Read the passage. In it, the mother misuses the English idiom “It takes two to tango.” What does her language show about her as

a character? She has picked up expressions and uses them like a native English speaker. She is at ease in her new home. She is embarrassed to speak. She has trouble communicating clearly in English.

Answer:

She has trouble communicating clearly in English.

Explanation:

The mother speaks bad english because she is an immigrant and she is still learning the english language, idioms are often misused by new speakers because they don´t have a literal meaning they make a reference to another situation, and it can be confusing if you are only learning by repetition, and you don´t detect them unless you are actually very used to the language.

Prior to Dee leaving home, the everyday objects in her household were just that- everyday objects. She took no special notice of any of them. However, once she returns home, all of these objects represent great culture significance to her. Which of the following excerpts is an example of iambic pentameter?
sveta [45]
In my opinion, the correct answer is C. " I see you shining like a jewel of night".

Iambic pentameter is a rhythmic scheme that consists of five iambs - two-syllable feet that consist of an unstressed syllable followed by a stressed one (it sounds something like this: da DA da DA da DA da DA da DA). Therefore, this line is pronounced like this (the accentuated syllables are bolded, and slashes separate the iambs): I see / you shi / ning like / a jewel / of night.
