Explain how an estimate helps you to place the decimal point when multiplying 3.9 & 5.3

Mathematics

6 0

-- Look at the two numbers.

-- Say to yourself: "Self !  3.9 is close to 4, and 5.3 is close to 5.
So the product is going to be close to  (4 x 5) = 20."

-- Then do the real  multiplication.

-- On your paper or your calculator, you see the digits  2 0 6 7 .

-- From your estimate (20), you know that it can't possibly be
2.067  or  206.7  or  2,067.  It must be  20.67 .

Answer:

H0 : μ = 60000

H1 : μ ≠ 60000

Test statistic = 3.464

Step-by-step explanation:

Given :

Sample mean salary, xbar = 80000

Sample standard deviation, s = 10000

Population mean salary , μ = 60000

Sample size, n = 3

Hypothesis :

H0 : μ = 60000

H1 : μ ≠ 60000

The test statistic :

T = (xbar - μ) ÷ (s/√(n))

T = (80000 - 60000) ÷ (10000/√(3))

T = 20000 / 5773.5026

T = 3.464

The Decison region :

If a license plate has three letters followed by three digits, with no repetitions allowed and no use of either the letter o or
Irina-Kira [14]

The license plates will look like this:

letter1 letter2 letter3 digit1 digit2 digit3

A sample license plate looks like this: ACT983

We need to see the numbers of letters and digits that can be used in each place, and multiply all numbers together.

You cannot use the letter O. Since there are 26 letters in the alphabet, by removing the letter O, you now have 25 letters left. The position "letter1" can have one of 25 letters.

25

For letter2, you cannot use the letter O, and you cannot use the letter that was already used, so now there are 24 letters left. Position letter2 can be filled with  on of the remaining 24 different letters.

25 * 24

Letter3 can have 23 choices of letters.

25 * 24 * 23

Now we do a similar thing with the digits. Digit1 cannot be zero, but it can be any digit from 1 to 9, so digit1 has 9 choices. Since no repetitions are allowed, digit2 has 8 choices of digits, and then digit3 has 7 choices of digits.

The number of different license plates available is the product:

25 * 24 * 23 * 9 * 8 * 7

25 * 24 * 23 * 9 * 8 * 7 = 6,955,200

Answer: 6,955,200

The answer you're looking for is A: 3

5x-1=14
    +1  +1

(the -1 cancels out)

Test-preparation organizations like Kaplan, Princeton Review, etc. often advertise their services by claiming that students gain
Umnica [9.8K]

Answer:

High school students and their parents are often bombarded with SAT test prep applications as they get closer to the college application process. Exam preparation offers arrive in the mail; they are sent home by schools, and they are not cheap. (The Princeton Review "Ultimate Classroom" course costs $ 1,199 in New York City.) When students take these courses and do not see their scores improve, parents may wonder if their children have studied enough or if they have wasted their money.

Step-by-step explanation:

Previous year, the NACAC released a report concluding that exam preparation courses have minimal impact on improving SAT scores: approximately 10-20 points on average in math and 5-10 points on critical reading. The Association for college administration report also noted that this evidence is "contrary to claims made by many test preparation providers of large increases of 100 points or more on the SAT."

Kathleen Steinberg, a College Board spokeswoman, says that, on average, students who take the SAT twice only "increase their scores by about 30 points."

He further disclose that "The College Panel does not indorse taking the SAT more than twice, as there is no evidence to indicate that taking the test more than twice increases grade performance."

Parents might also be surprised at the actual average SAT scores: 501 in critical reading, 515 in math, and 493 in writing, according to Steinberg. (The highest score you can get in any section is 800).

Kaplan claimed that The Princeton Review's claims for score breaks were based on comparing the results of Princeton Review's "diagnostic" tests with the students' self-reported scores on the actual SAT tests, as opposed to SAT scores previous and after.
