An irrational number is a number that cannot turn into a fraction.
If you add an irrational number to a rational number, the sum is an irrational number because since the number cannot be ended and/or written into a fraction.
Irrational numbers are: Pi and infinity. Pi doesn't ever end, and all the digits (after 0) are different (it's a formula). Infinity has no end, so you cannot write infinity as a fraction.
Pi plus 5/8 is an irrational number.
Infinity plus 5/8 is also an irrational number.
