 <span>Let x be the number of pounds of the $.20 beans. The cost of those beans is $.20 * x, or .20x. <span>
Let y be the number of pounds of the $.68 beans. The cost of those beans is $ .68 * y, or .68y.
We know that 120 pounds of the mix sells for $ 0.54/pound, for a total of 120 * 0.54 = $ 64.8

x + y = 120
1.35(x) + (1.05)y = 64.8

We can rewrite the first as
x = -y + 120

Now we can substitute (-y + 120) in for (x) in the second equation, because we just proved they're equal.

.20(x) + .68(y) = 64.8
.20(-y + 120) + .68y = 64.8
-.20y + 24 + .68y = 164.8
-0.3y + 24 = 64.8
-0.38y = -24
y = 63.16

</span></span>

Help 30 minutes to turn in
dangina [55]

First, you are going to want to get the terms to the same power of 10 in scientific notation. Realize that 9.3 \cdot 10^7 = 9.3 \cdot 10^6 \cdot 10^1= 93 \cdot 10^6. Essentially, we have converted the 9.3 \cdot 10^7 to a term with 10^6. Now, we can subtract the values in each term that are not 10 as shown below:

93 \cdot 10^6 - 3.14 \cdot 10^6

(93 - 3.14) \cdot 10^6

89.86 \cdot 10^6

Remember that we have to turn it back to scientific notation once we are done!

89.86 \cdot 10^6 = 8.986 \cdot 10^7

Our answer is the second choice, 8.98 \cdot 10^7. (This is the closest answer to 8.986 \cdot 10^7.)

Write the equation of the line that passes through the points (8,-1) and (2,-5) in standard form, given the point to slope form
vredina [299]
We know that

the equation of the line in standard form is
Ax+By=C

the equation of the line <span> in the slope-intercept form is
</span><span>y +1 = 2/3 (x - 8)-----> y+1=(2/3)x-(16/3)----> y-(2/3)x=(-16/3)-1
</span>y-(2/3)x=(-19/3)----> multiply by 3-----> -2x+3y=-19

the answer is
-2x+3y=-19

<span>I verify that the points belong to the given line
for the point (8,-1)
-2*8+3*(-1)=-19--------> -16-3=-19-----> -19=-19------> is ok

for the point (2,-5)
-2*2+3*(-5)=-19------> -4-15=-19------> -19=-19-----> is ok</span>
